You’re My Cup of Tea
Posted on January 23rd, 2015
Having new products is always fun, but sometimes it’s nice to pull out old favorites to use. Tea Party is one of my favorite stamp sets, a fact that won’t surprise anyone who knows me, as my drink of choice is always hot tea.
I started out intending to make a card using this week’s Freshly Made Sketch with the ColourQ Challenge colors. I did stay with the colors, but my design took on a life of its own, not this week’s challenge. I ended up with cardstock and DSP in all shapes and textures scattered across my work space by the time I finished. Oh, well… It’s true that there is joy in the journey, even a circuitous one.
The Designer Series paper and the stamp set are both retired, but I’m happy with the results, and my loved ones don’t keep up with that anyway. They’re just proud to hear from me!
Do you keep old favorites and retired paper, or are you one who purges all but the newest products? As a child of Depression Era parents (that’s the GREAT Depression), I find it nearly impossible to get rid of items that are still useful and in good shape. I do NOT, however, wash and save used foil and bread sacks as my grandmother did. You probably aren’t familiar with that concept if you aren’t a person raised by parents who suffered through our nation’s depression, followed by World War II rationing. We are rich in so many ways that we take for granted, aren’t we?
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
I keep all my old sets – try to go through to reduce, but when I do, I fall in love with them again. Must have been some reason I bought them in the first place! I am trying to use them or lose them this year. No sense in keeping something I am not going to use, it’s only taking up space! I love your card. That navy rectangle sets off the oval so nicely.
Thanks, Laurie! The square is actually Island Indigo, the color in the thin banner strip. I don’t have the best lighting to take photos yet. I, too have been doing some cleaning and organizing in my craft area this last week. That’s when I fell in love all over again with my Tea Party stamp.
