On Being a Bag Lady
Posted on January 24th, 2018
Well, not a bag lady in the homeless sense… While I was sipping my morning hot tea, I came across Chris Slogar’s post in my Feedly where she makes little gift bags with 6×6″ paper using the Gift Bag Punch Board. After watching her video, I jumped up and dug out several Stampin’ Up Paper Stacks that I guess I was saving (hoarding) for a rainy day. I was thrilled to discover that, yes, I had squirreled away two Valentine paper stacks that were over half full. As you can see from the picture, I’ve been busy! I plan to finish putting the ribbon handles on them tonight while watching something on Netflix, and then they will be ready for filling!
After I made the first bag, I checked to see if a 3×6″ Gusseted Cellophane Bag would fit inside it. As you can see from the picture, the answer is YES! These little cellophane bags are perfect for gifting cookies and candy because not only are they food safe, treats look even tastier in them. I had already decided to bake little heart shaped sugar cookies dipped in white candy coating to give this year. How much sweeter they will be slipped into these little bags!
Of course, you could also cut a full-sized piece of DSP into 6″ squares. One 12″ DSP will yield two gift bags, as each one takes two 6″ squares. If you are interested in making them, I highly recommend watching Chris’ video and then making a prototype out of some old cardstock. I was glad I made a sample because I made a couple of mistakes the first time through.
Supplies for One Gift Bag:
- 2 – 6″ squares of DSP
- Gift Bag Punch Board
- Adhesive (I used Snail and Tear & Tape)
- 2 – 10″ strips of ribbon for handles
- 3×6″ Gusseted Cellophane Bag
Thanks for stopping by today. If you have any questions, just leave a comment, and I’ll be happy to help.
OMG! I am going to have to make some of these. Hugs, Di
