SOL 18: Nature’s Renewal & Rebirth
Posted on March 24th, 2018
We have had a glorious spring day here in West Texas. As Ken & I were walking this morning, my thoughts turned to the miracle of rebirth evident everywhere in the spring.
It would be hard to overstate how much I look forward to spring each year. Seems as if the only crayons needed to color our landscape from October through early February are shades of brown.
But as the days grow warmer (in February for us here in West Texas), little green sprigs begin peeking up through the brown twigs in my fern, left from winter’s killing frost.
The cone flowers have let loose of last year’s dead stems and have sent up tender leaves. The live oak trees have finished showering our lawn with last year’s brown leaves and tender green leaves are appearing.
I find my spirit lifting as we begin Easter week, a time to celebrate the greatest gift of life and renewal.
Sounds like a beautiful time of year — physically and spiritually — in West Texas. Enjoy the upcoming holiday.
We are singing our Hosannas as we get ready for school this morning. Sounds like your walk did both body and soul good. Glad you have more than brown crayons in your coloring bin now.
Wow, this made me smile. Thanks for a slice that lifted me up, made me take notice of the little things happening all around me that make me happy. My little girl picked the tiniest flower for me the other day while I was at work. So many things to be thankful for, and appreciate. Nice slice.
