“A horse is a horse, of course, of course, and no one can talk to a horse, of course, unless, of course, the horse is the amazing Mr. Ed.”  If you know the tune to those words, you probably watched black and white television growing up! I confess that the Mister Ed show was one of my favorites, possibly because that’s the closest I ever came to a real horse. I knew that my dad grew up on ranches where his dad worked as a hand, and that he competed in rodeos when he returned to civilian life after WW2. But, by the time I came along, we were bonafide townies, and he worked at White Sands Missile Range tracking missiles.

The reason for this bit of personal history is that my card features the Barn Door Stamp set on page 43 of the Occasions catalog. The matching framelits make it possible to create a sliding door, so popular in home decorating these days. However, my first thought was of a real barn door and real barns are where horses live…so, of course, I had to pull out my Horse Frontier Stamp. (If you grew up watching Mr. Ed in the 1960’s, you may remember that he would hang his head out of a half door that resembles this stamped one while he chatted with his owner Wilbur Post.)

Those of you who’ve never heard of the famous Mr. Ed can correct this gap in your cultural knowledge by clicking on the short video below. I’d like the rest of you to watch the clip anyway to see the barn that Mr. Ed lived in.
