birthday card

Do you have trouble making masculine cards? I did until I saw the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper with its navy, green, and gold colors (especially the plaid).  This card is the one I made for my older son’s birthday. I used the Triple Banner punch to cut the ends of the Tranquil Tide banner and then embossed it with the Cable Knit embossing folder. It sort looks like a sweater vest!

I borrowed the idea for the stamped image from the Lots of Happy card kit. I wanted to use one of the stamps included in the set, and the sheet of gold trimmed shapes (think Tailored Tag punch) caught my eye. I have no problem taking parts out of a kit for other cards, but the one in the kit was smaller than I wanted, so I measured and increased the size onto Very Vanilla cardstock. In case you’re wondering, it was trickier than I thought it would be…that tag punch will probably be on my next order.  However, I measured carefully and got lucky on the first try. From there, it was just a matter of cutting out and tracing the Very Vanilla shape onto the back of a scrap of copper foil sheet and leaving a margin as I cut it out. I used my Tranquil Tide marker and a ruler to draw the lines on the Very Vanilla piece.

I am SO impressed with the photopolymer stamp set that comes with the Lots of Happy card kit. I love all the parts of the kit, but I think it was worth the purchase for those stamps!

inside card-celebrate good stuff

I used a stamp from the Picture Perfect Birthday set for the greeting. All the stamps in the set will be great for masculine cards–cheerful but not sweet or sappy! With two sons, a husband, a brother-law, etc., I can tell this set will be one I pull out over and over.

snickerdoodles

What’s a birthday without some of Mom’s homemade Snickerdoodles?  My boys will choose cookies over cake any day, Snickerdoodles are one of their favorites. Trying to calculate how many cookies I’ve baked over the last 37 years would be an interesting math problem! FYI, that clear container is an empty date container from Sam’s. I put dates in my bread every week, so I wash up the empty containers and use them for giving baked goodies. A piece of decorated cardstock on the lid covers up the label. (I attached it with a couple of strips of Tear & Tape–love that stuff! It’s easy to use and makes a STRONG bond.)

Thanks for stopping by to spend a few minutes. Have a great day!
