None of us likes to think about losing a loved one, and it’s especially hard when that person has been a loving influence over many years. My daughter-in-law lost her grandmother this weekend, and I made her a card to let her know that we love her and are thinking of her.

Funny thing about making cards–I always have a harder time making one for a specific person than I do when I just sit down to do some stamping. True to form, I usually over think the whole process…  After perusing Pinterest for sympathy cards, I settled on a simple design that came together by taking elements from several different cards. Finding just the right sentiment to put inside is always a struggle for me, too, but I found one by Robert Louis Stevenson that seemed just right: “Like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in times of sorrow.” I just opened a Word document on my computer and typed the quote, hunted for just the right font, and then printed it out on Whisper White cardstock. (To keep from wasting paper, I set the page layout to landscape, two columns. That way I still had a half sheet for the front of the card.)

Thanks for stopping by and spending a few minutes with me today!
