Dove Chocolate in a Bag for You
Posted on February 4th, 2015
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Yikes!
It’s time to get serious about producing those cards to mail and treats to give. Seems like every year I take my time designing little treats and cards, but then I’m in a last-minute mad dash to make enough of them to actually mail and give out.
The treat bag that I’m sharing today is one that I came up with after watching Angie Juda’s video. Her bag is really cute, and I made one myself after watching the video. The problem I have is that most of the papers in the Stacked With Love DSP pack have the design oriented in the portrait or 4.5″ not the 6.5″ direction. I plan to make 15 little boxes with this paper, and if I follow Angie’s directions, most of the bags will have the pattern running the wrong way. So. I decided to fiddle with the dimensions and made numerous bloopers before I figured out a simple way to make the bags that allow me to use all my paper. I took the time to draw off a pattern to share, thinking that others might want to have this same option.
Begin with a sheet of 4″x 6.5″ paper. (If you’re using the Stacked with Love DSP pack, you will need to trim off 1/2″.)
In Landscape mode, score paper at 2 3/4″ and 3 3/4″.
Turn paper to Portrait mode and score at 1″ and 3″ (So sorry that my numbers are upside down in the photo…).
Next, you will score at 1/2″ in down to the second score line on both sides.
Crease along all the fold lines with a bone folder.
Cut away the 1/2″ on both sides down to the second score line. Then trim the small tabs in a smidge so that the sides will line up nicely.
Apply Snail adhesive or glue to the remaining 1/2″ strips all the way down to the second score line.
Assemble the bag. I pushed the sides in a little to make a soft crease and then punched a hole for the ribbon. I also closed the top with a Mini Glue Dot just above the punched hole so that the ribbon (silver 1/8″ ribbon) wouldn’t pull loose (AFTER adding two Dove chocolates to the bag). Of course, this little bag is cute on its own, but I added a Whisper White heart with For You in Crisp Cantaloupe (both from the Mini Treat Bag Framelit set) and a tiny sliver glitter heart.
Now all I have to do is get all the little bags made before I eat all those yummy Dove chocolate hearts! Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions about my directions, just leave a comment and I’ll answer it.
Super cute and thanks for fiddling with the measurements to make it work. Big hugs, Di
