A Blog Hop of May Flowers
Posted on April 1st, 2015
Today is only April 1, but as the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers, the theme of our April Di’s Country INKers blog hop. Some areas of the country have been having lots of moisture, but here in West Texas we are praying for those April showers to relieve our drought conditions. We have gotten a little rain lately, though, and I was thrilled to see a bluebonnet blooming in the grass alongside the road this week. Nothing says spring in Texas better than bluebonnets.
I’ve had Easter baskets on my mind lately, so a basket made of flowers seemed like the perfect project. My inspiration for this tiny flower basket came from a picture on Pinterest.
I stamped the flowers (Mixed Bunch set) onto So Saffron cardstock with Versamark ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder before punching them out using the Blossom punch. I’m still enough of an embossing novice that watching the embossing powder melt still seems like magic to me; I love it!
The basket is made by attaching six flowers together into a circle with an additional flower adhered in the middle. I also adhered a flower in the center on the bottom of the basket to make it sturdier. I achieved the bowl shape by attaching the flowers to each other with glue dots and pulling the petals over each other.
For the handle, I cut a 1/2″ strip of the So Saffron cardstock and adhered a strip of Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon to it with Snail adhesive. I stapled the handle to the basket and adhered Crushed Curry Sale-A-Bration Best Year Ever Buttons over the staples. The little bows are tied with gold baker’s twine.
This little basket goes together quickly and is a fun project for any season. In fact, I’m thinking that my granddaughter needs one made with Pink Pirouette flowers.

Oh Connie – I just love this little basket! What a unique way to use the flowers!! Heat embossing was one of the first classes I ever took – got a thrill from it then and still do to this day…
That is amazing, who would ever think it and I agree heat embossing is still a thrill and I don’t do it enough. Big hugs, Di
