Are you old enough to think of Burl Ives singing “Holly Jolly Christmas” in the television special Frosty the Snowman” when you see this little stampIf so, we are contemporaries. (Just do as I do and keep repeating, “Age is only a number, age is only a number…”) For the rest of you, learn a little cultural trivia by reading about the song on Wikipedia and then watch the YouTube clip from the show. Whatever your age, this little stamp dresses up holiday treat and cards with a cheerful wish that everyone will enjoy.

I came across this treat on Inking Idaho’s blog where she used the Top Note Big Shot die to make candy purses. I loved the idea, but wanted a treat that would be welcomed by all, and not many fellas I’ve met would be excited to receive a holiday purse, so I left off the ribbon handle. This treat would be a quick and easy one for a school Christmas party, as party favors, as a small gift for colleagues at work … the possibilities are endless! The best part is that as cute as it is, it is very economical to make: a 4″ x 5″ sheet of card stock, some clear treat bags, and 1/4 cup of M&Ms, and you are in business. I was able to fill eight treat bags with a 12.60 oz. bag of Holiday M&Ms that I picked up at the grocery store for less than $3.00. At that price, I would have made one for everyone in my son’s class. Of course, I’m about 15 years too late for that, but a do have a granddaughter…

I used the Season of Style Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Riding Hood Red cardstock. Cherry Cobbler would be great too, but I needed to use up a stash of the Riding Hood Red, as it is a discontinued color. The stamp is one from the Tags 4 You set that coordinates with the Bracket Label Punch. This punch and stamp set is quickly becoming one of my favorites because it is so versatile and adds punch to any project. Also, one of the great benefits of using Stampin’ Up! products is that they continue to produce stamps that coordinate with their punches.

If you’ve been reading my blog, you know that I’m working my very first craft fair next week, sponsored by my daughter’s MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. My first thought was to sell some of these cuties ready to gift (or eat), but once I made up a batch, I decided to sell some DYI kits (sans candy). As a working mom, I would have LOVED to find something this cute and ready to assemble for my sons’ Christmas parties! I put together sets of eight along with a instruction sheet in clear envelope bags to sell. You can download a PDF of the sheet I prepared:  Assembling Your Holly Jolly Treat Bags.  Email me if you would like the Word document to edit for your own use.

Thanks for stopping by and spending a few minutes with me. Check back tomorrow for more craft fair projects and pictures, as I’ll be in high gear finishing up all the goodies I hope to sell.  Have a great day!
