Sitting Pretty Times Nine!
Posted on June 8th, 2018
Remember all those little pieces from yesterday’s post? Here is what they have become! I’m participating in a card swap with eight other Di’s Country INKers demonstrators, and I chose to feature the new Sitting Pretty bundle.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I’ve been challenging myself to try new techniques. The big one for this card was applying my own watercolor wash onto Shimmery White CS instead of using a stamp or a premade card base. It sounds crazy, but I haven’t tried it before, as I just knew I would make a mess and end up wasting card stock. Crazy, right? Once I tried it, I realized how simple and fun it is. I especially like the fact that no two of the cards ended up exactly the same.
Crafting Tip: My first piece bowed up as it dried. After consulting my younger son who paints, I taped the rest of the bases with painters tape onto the masonite board pictured below and removed them once they dried. Viola! Flat cardstock.
I used an Aqua Painter and Soft Suede ink to watercolor the dog. For the bird I used Pacific Point and Real Red watercolor pencils and a blender pen. I clear embossed the bench after stamping it to make it look more like actual wrought iron. Cutting out the stamped images with the coordinating framelits creates depth and makes the images visually pop. (I also attached the bird with a mini-dimensional and the dog with a standard sized dimensional.) And notice that cute little heart? It is cut from Poppy Parade CS, a new color in the Subtles collection.
The framelit set also includes an embossing piece that creates the paving stones. I used Whisper White CS and then brushed Gray Granite ink over them with a sponge dauber. Then I cut them out by hand.
The Shimmery White piece is adhered to a base of Pool Party CS to create a card measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.
I’m excited to share these cards with my fellow demonstrators. This bundle is SO fun to use and creates beautiful images. Have I convinced you yet that you need this set? If so, just click on the links below to order the supplies I’ve used!
Eek! I love it and can’t wait to get one. Hugs, Di
