Life: a Precious Privilege
Posted on June 2nd, 2018
A lot of the joy that I receive from creating cards and small gifts out of paper is thinking about the person that will receive what I’ve made. Every once in a while, though, I come across a stamp that speaks to me personally and seems to announce to me that this one is a card I need to give myself. (Like the one I made myself right after I created my YouTube channel).
I had that same conviction to make myself a card using the new Enjoy Life stamp set when I read the following message on one of the stamps:
“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive: to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”
I’ve discovered over the years that when I consciously begin my day with a grateful attitude, I’m better able to react with kindness and understanding to events that might otherwise bring out the worst in me.
I wish that I could say that I begin every day with this attitude, but I don’t. For that reason, I have my new card prominently displayed to remind myself to be thankful and that life is a precious gift.
I kept the design simple for the card. The base is a 4″x 4″ card with a Pool Party watercolor wash on the front. It’s from the retired Watercolor Wishes card kit, but it would be easy to make your own by cutting a piece of Whisper White thick cardstock at 8″x 4″ and scoring it along the long side at 4″. Then apply a wash of Pool Party or the new Mint Macaron ink with an Aqua Painter. After the ink has dried, stamp the greeting and silhouette. (I stamped the silhouette with Gray Granite (a new color) and the greeting in Basic Black ink.)
Thanks for stopping by today. I’ve listed the supplies for the card below with links to order them from my store. As always, I’d be grateful if you choose to purchase them from me!
