SOL18: Family Milestones
Posted on March 7th, 2018
How is it that my older son turned 37 today? I was 28 when he was born, and people questioned why we waited so long to start having kids. Looking back, I was still really young! Ha!
I was the newspaper sponsor when I was pregnant, and I had to print our school paper on an old Gestetner printer. It was SO loud (clack, clack, clack for each page it printed) that I wondered what effect all that racket would have on the baby. Maybe that’s why he had so much trouble sleeping through the night for a long time!
As you can see by the picture, he got plenty of food and rest over the years. He has grown into a fine man who continues to be a blessing to me.
He has been especially supportive of my fitness journey to remain strong and fit. I was only there to take that photo of him in the Window at Big Bend a few years ago (scaring the life out of me standing that close to the edge!) because of his encouragement.
We have run 5K’s, hiked all over Big Bend, and best of all, we have become friends as the years have gone by.
Happy birthday, TT Matt!
I love this post! As you know, my son is one of my favorite topics. I’m sure he’ll show up again soon. What a sweet companionship you share with him. I love how he is supportive of your fitness. My son is supportive of me, too, and it makes me feel like I’m a real person in his eyes, not just a mom. (You also made me want to visit the Window at Big Bend…Google comes in handy:-)
Isn’t it interesting how what constitutes a ‘young’ or ‘old’ mom has changed over the years? What fun ways you two are building memories.
Wow! Congratulations to you. My eldest will be 33 this summer, 9 years older than I was when I gave birth to him. It’s really hard to believe how much time has passed. And I know it’s makes me sound old to say it, but I do remember certain moments like they were yesterday. Enjoy your son and all the wonderful times you’ve shared and will continue to share!
