It’s been a trying couple of days in my part of the blogosphere. My blog was down for over 24 hours due to malware invasion in my web hosting files. This blog was not affected, but the web hosting company took everything down until the problem was addressed. VERY frustrating. I wasn’t feeling the love for little things the last couple of days…  The good news, though, is the problem has been resolved with a plan to keep it from happening again.

Today’s project is a card holder for a set of valentines that I’m making for a family member. Since she has dietary restrictions that make candy inappropriate, I decided that making her some cards to send out to her friends might be just the thing!  I was just going to slip them into a freezer bag when I sent them to her, but then I remembered the cute holder that Carrie Cudney demonostrated in a Stampin’ Up! video in 2012. Much sweeter than a freezer bag, don’t you think? I love the new Hello Life stamp set from the Occasions catalog. You will see more of the stamps in this set over the next few days, as I am using them for the cards that will go inside this cute holder.

Check out Carrie’s YouTube video and make one for yourself or a friend. They are cute, practical, and easy to make. What could be better?

The supplies and dimensions are given in the video, but I’ll also post them below. If the cards aren’t too thick, six cards and envelopes will fit nicely inside to holder, but five won’t seem stingy either! On previous ones, I have used a circle of lightweight Velcro to keep them closed, but for this one I wanted to “step it up” a little, and so I made a band from Whisper White satin ribbon and decorated it with a heart stamped from the P.S. I Love You set (retired) and punched out with the Full Heart Punch. I also embellished the top edge of the holder by cutting the edge with an Adorning Accents Edgelit (retired) as Carrie does in her video. However, one of the best things about this little holder is that it can be decorated in so many ways. I’m wishing that I’d remembered it during the holidays, as it would look so cute made out of the Under the Tree Specialty DSP that is so sturdy. I’m thinking that I will make a couple out of it anyway with the tan and cream design facing out. By the way, this paper is available in the Clearance Rack right now for only $5.19 as long as supply lasts!
